Texas Tech Prep prepares students for high skill, high demand technical careers in a competitive global economy. Rigorous educational pathways emphasize math, science and technology and lead to postsecondary education. Educators, employers and communities collaborate to develop and deliver all Tech Prep pathways.

Tech Prep programs combine at least two years of high school education with two years of postsecondary education to prepare students for technical careers in areas such as engineering technology, health and human services and business/information technology. These articulated programs combine a common core of higher academics in math, science and communications with a specific field of technical preparation. Tech Prep is a college prep program that leads to an associate degree, two-year certificate or apprenticeship. Tech Prep students will be technically and academically prepared to join the workforce or continue their education towards a baccalaureate degree.

Tech Prep is part of a National educational initiative that involves restructuring traditional curricula and introducing new teaching approaches at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Viewed as one of the most innovative and effective educational reform efforts in American history, Tech Prep connects learning to career pathways and provides students with the knowledge, skills and behaviors they need to compete successfully in the technologically advanced workplace of tomorrow.
